Webkinz Whimsy Dragon     By L. Ralston

We first heard about the Webkinz brand through our school. The PTA had purchased and donated a webkinz for each classroom to have their own. This was a fun way for the little ones to pick up computer skills. We also use Webkinz as an earned award for good behavior at school. They earn so many stickers and they get to go to the W store to purchase a new friend. We have used them to encourage our Autistic child also. These are a great gift for any child. We have experienced many of the interactive online toys that hit the market after Webkinz launched. Webkinz has the best interactive website that we have come accross. None of their competitors compare. If you want the best of all worlds buy Webkinz and forget the rest.

Not a cheap gimmick     By   J. Garson “artist and technophile

Unlike so many other 3D toys and products which just frustrate and disappoint - this toy works as advertised! The provided glasses make any bright colors appear to float or plunge back into surfaces. Each color in the rainbow appears at a different depth, so almost anything your child draws will have an interesting 3D result.

The great thing about this is that the glasses also work with drawings made with markers, pen, crayon, and even computer and video images. Anything with bright colors will pop to life.

Looking up ‘chromadepth’ on the internet yielded many other images which appear in glorious 3D when wearing the provided glasses.

Music & Lights = Happy Baby!            By M. Deuby

bought this after reading the positive reviews of others and I have been very pleased with the purchase. My baby really enjoys this toy. I use it for ‘tummy time’, she will lift her head and chest up in order to watch the lights and likes to sing and talk to it. The music is very nice for an electronic toy. I like it so much that I’ve purchased it for some friends and their babies as well.

Entertaining            By “lelandsmommie”

My son was walking at 10 mos, and rec’d this at 1 year. He “lawn mows” EVERYTHING. He skipped the traditional walker and went right to running behind Mike. He even learned to say “Excuse Me!” from listening to Mike. We have the matching talking lantern with an Australian accent, which is very cute and easy to understand. My son has even picked up the accent. I would definitely recommend this to any child (especially little boys) who love to play outside and mimic their Dads.

Amazing Experience for the Entire Family    By   Deanna Breglia

If you’re looking for a gift for a child that’s just the right combination of fun, excitement, and an excellent learning experience, you’ve found it.

I cannot recommend this product enough. I bought it for my five year-old niece and it quickly became an adventure for her and the entire family.

The caterpillars were delivered promptly. All five were alive and soon began eating themselves silly. The chrysalides formed in a matter of hours after just a couple days of eating. A few days later, they hatched overnight into gorgeous Pink Ladies.

What a wonderful way to teach children (and adults!) about the miracle and fragility of life.

The house itself is durable and well-made and the educational materials that accompany it are clear and informative.

One tip if you do buy this item: Keep an eye on them. They grow up so fast! Taking pictures of their different stages might be good for a elementary school science project, too.

Very fun introduction into robotics. Great for kids AND adults     By   Jeffrey Heaton “Jeff Heaton”

Lego has again released a ground breaking product. This is a great way for anyone to get into robotics. No tools are necessary, not even a screwdriver. Everything is built using lego blocks. These are not the lego blocks that you might be used to. They are not the studded ones that snap together. These are Technic blocks (”studless legos”), which create a more human, less boxy look.

Everything talks to the central computer, which is called a “brick”. It is maybe 1/4th the size of a “real brick”. It has ports to connect to the four sensors and three servo motors. Additionally, the brick can connect to a computer using USB or bluetooth.

The three motors are controlled using your own programs. You have a great deal of control, you can specify the exact angle a motor should move. Also programming is easy, using a visual block-dragging software application. It works great on both Mac and Windows.

The four sensors are very cool.

Ultrasonic sensor: Can detect distance and movement. The distance sensor is very cool and can make for some cool programs.

Light sensor: Can detect brightness and color. The robot can be programmed to pickup only the blue or red ball, which is included.

Push sensor: Detects when something bumps against it. This is basically just a toggle switch.

Sound sensor: Detects the volume and tone of sound.

Lego gives you a number of plans to follow, as well as some basic plans to build off of. For example, the crawler and driver platforms allow you to start with either an “insect” or “car” type robot.

The brick takes 6 double A batteries. Rechargables work well.

MY SON LOVES IT       By   Mommyof2boys

I ordered this keyboard for my 3 1/2 year old son who insisted on a “music machine”. I was going to order the Little Tikes Music Machine but did not find the review favorable or the price and it took up to much space. We gave this to my son last night for Chanukah and he could not wait to play with it and woke up this morning asking to play with it. I LOVE the fact that it doesn’t take up a lot of room and has a handle to carry it. It has so many instrument sounds and music making option the fun is endless.

good toy for developing spatial sense   By   KBN

When I was teaching elementary school science, I often pulled out sets of gears for my students to play with, because they are great for developing good science/math/engineering concepts, whether following diagrams or trying out their own designs.

We got this toy for my son for xmas, a month before his 3rd birthday. He’s definitely ahead for his age with puzzles/ spatial challenges, and has loved this toy. At first, he wanted to build what the box showed, which involved following diagrams (definitely a mom/dad task) but now (a year later) he likes to play with it more open-endedly, hooking things together in his own way to make the monkeys move about. When we first got it, it looked like putting the parts together and taking them apart would be too hard for a 3 year old, but he can do it fine now as an older 3. My only complaint is that the box is not a great storage case.

Entertaining to watch and play with as an adult By  SAHM “TanMomof3″

My family got the biggest kick out of this toy. My 32 yr old sister wants one for her birthday. The horse is amazing. It trots and neighs for quite a distance on the floor. A child (of any age) can have fun with their imagination with this toy. I highly recommend it.

Next Best Thing to the Real Thing      By   J. T. Landen Jr. “sandinmyshoes62″

As a cat lover, these Webkinz Persian Cats are perfect gifts for friends and relatives who share my love of cats, but for whatever reason, ie small apartments, allergies, lack of parental permission are not able to own a live cat. They are beautiful and very soft to the touch. I give them as gifts so I have not looked at the website associated with these animals but have heard its lots of fun too!
